Our Story
The History of BCI & Mechatron
Our story began in 1937, when Carl “Grandpa” Balzer laid the foundation for what would one day become Balzer’s Canada Inc. (BCI). His dedication and vision carried forward through his son Rudy, who guided the company into the industrial construction sector and built a reputation for reliability and strength. Today, the third generation of the Balzer family, led by Ron, continues to carry that legacy forward with bold new steps into the future.
In 2024, under Ron’s leadership, BCI partnered with Mechatron Solar to become the exclusive Canadian distributor of Mechatron’s advanced solar technologies. At the same time, BCI committed to transforming its own operations by moving toward complete solar power. Our flagship Saskatchewan facility reached NET ZERO in October 2025, with our Alberta location on track to achieve the same milestone by mid-2026. Together, these projects mark a new era for BCI—one that is powered by the sun and built for the future.

Oversight comes not only from our internal teams but also from independent external institutions, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and consistency with our quality assurance standards.
The metallic components of our trackers are engineered by Mechatron and manufactured by certified suppliers under the supervision of our Production Outsourcing Department. To ensure maximum durability, every part is hot-dip galvanized by immersion for superior corrosion resistance. Upon delivery, each piece is verified through dimensional, geometrical, and laboratory testing to guarantee full compliance with specifications.
Structural integrity is fundamental to our design. All trackers undergo static integrity studies in accordance with Eurocodes 1 and 3, which define the requirements for steel structures. These studies are certified by DQS Hellas Ltd, a member of the German certification body DQS GmbH. Additionally, our systems are fully compliant with the UL-3703 protocol, meeting international safety and performance benchmarks.
With robust design, superior materials, and international certification, Mechatron Solar trackers are built to last. They require no ongoing maintenance, include a Declaration of Conformity, and proudly carry the CE marking—a guarantee of safety and compliance for distribution across the EU.
